Nothing left to loose

During this morning's walk on the riverside floating board walk I thought about Australia as a country that has a vibe of creation, re-creation about it. People came here from Europe, China with practically nothing but themselves. There was no shared community, yet. They build their lives from scratch, had nothing left to loose.
I thought, "How could that energy of re-creation, starting from scratch and 'nothing left loose' support me in my development?

I went to see The King's Speech yesterday. Lionel Logue is a character that had a passion for acting and reciting Shakespeare. Upon that he has build his practice as a speech Logue coach for people who stammer (", speech defects" says his name plate). He understood through working with people with a stammer that muscular training and relaxation techniques is one part of the treatment but the underlying psychology - fear, suppression, not being listened to or not being seen and taking seriously - is the other often more impacting part. Logue doesn't have any credentials nor qualifications, he just "has himself and his experiences", as he says. Funny enough, he is from Australia. He really brings all of himself into the treatment; he and Bertie (King George VI) become friends for life.

This morning i saw two Boxer dogs, both still having their tails. That made me happy. One was still very young and its face was already full of character. I saw it at this coffee place on a road in New Farm. I discovered it last week when i was walking along the riverside from my place. Not sure what the name of the place is, but here is a picture:

As you can see it's a tiny place. They do an amazing cafe latte and water is complementary. They serve some food - banana bread, few sandwiches, fruit toast - and some bottled juices and they have several news papers. Nothing fancy, just plain and simple.

What i noticed about it today is that it really serves a social purpose in the area. People pass by for a coffee and a chat, catch the latest local and global news. You are in each others company for a short period of time and then go on with your own life. I like it. I wouldn't mind running a place like that. How would I call it? Coffee House, or something.
